Puppy training classes help introduce your puppy to other dogs, but canine interaction should still be approached with caution.
Train your puppy in areas where there are non-threatening dogs and praise them when they interacts with other dogs or show no undesirable reaction to their attention.
Be wary of signs that suggest your puppy will be aggressive toward another dog and remove them promptly from the situations if aggression occurs.
Try looking out for the following body language to spot aggressive behavior before it happens:
- Circling with tail and head held high
- Walking on toes
- Rigid tail wags
- Uptight facial expressions
Also, keep in mind that as your puppy reaches maturity, they are likely to become more assertive and protective.
